A woman 'of a certain age'

I’d been suffering from a variety of symptoms for about 3 years. Hot flushes mainly - sometimes every few minutes. My G.P. prescribed HRT tablets. These worked very well for about 6 months and then I started having side-effects. eg; heavy periods, racing pulse. I then tried several other combinations including patches and the same thing happened. My daughter knew someone who had tried homeopathy with success and she had been to Dawn. I rang Dawn for an appointment. On the first visit we had a long chat and she prescribed me some tablets. Within a week my symptoms had disappeared. I had 5 follow-up visits. Problems with the ear

Approximately 4 years ago I started with noises in my left ear as a result of an accident I sustained while working at home. Conventional treatment by my doctor and a specialist was not very encouraging, as there is no known drug that can cure this disability, so a combination of this, and the almost continuous noise in my ear sent me into quite severe depression. It was at this point I saw an advert in the local paper by Dawn Keyse concerning homeopathy, and desperate to try and do something about my condition I contacted Dawn and there followed a series of consultations and treatment with homeopathy. Four years on, there are occasions when I still hear a sound, but it is at such a low level I hardly notice it, and I feel fine in my general health and well being. The first consultation lasts around one and a half hours and is used to find out as many details about you and your health as possible.

While some questions will seem to have little bearing on the problem you may have come with, all the information gained helps to build a complete picture of you as an individual, which is necessary in order to select the most effective remedy.

The Remedies

The homeopathic remedies themselves are made mainly from plant and mineral substances. They are very potent and yet are prepared in such a dilute form that they can be safely taken by anyone, being non-toxic and non-addictive.

Homeopathic remedies can be taken during pregnancy and are ideal for babies and children.

In addition to homeopathic remedies, Dawn is fully qualified in the use of flower essences as well as in the techniques of Naturopathy, Kinesiology and Neuro Linguistic Programming. If used as part of your health programme, they are included in the cost of treatment.

What remedy will I get at the session?

At the end of the session you will leave with a homeopathic remedy in the form of small, soluble pills and instructions on how to take them.

There is a fixed fee for each consultation which covers all all prescriptions and contact between appointments.

Homeopathy has been used in the UK for over two hundred years, but has an honourable tradition dating back to ancient Greece. It was Samuel Hahnemann, a brilliant doctor and chemist, working in 1796 who developed the scientific and philosophical foundations of this gentler way of healing. These scientific principles form the basis of successful homeopathic practice today.

The founding father of homeopathy

Samuel Hahnemann developed the system of medicine we now call homeopathy. He had a very clear and humane approach to the practice of medicine:"The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent,in the shortest, most reliable and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles" (Samuel Hahnemann, Organon of Medicine).

An estimated 5.75million people a year in the UK go to see a complementary practitioner for treatment and it has been estimated that one in four members of the public would like to access complementary medicine on the National Health Service. 

In April 2007, Mintel published research on complementary medicines which showed that public interest in the UK was growing. Over-the-counter homeopathic treatments, such as arnica cream, had seen a 24 per cent growth over a five year period from 2002-2007.

Homeopathy is the most frequently used Complementary and Alternative Medicine in five out of 16 surveyed countries in Europe and among the three most frequently used in 11 out of 16 surveyed countries.

In 2000, a House of Lords Select Committee report on Complementary and Alternative Medicine listed homeopathy as a “group one” therapy, along with osteopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture and herbal medicine. Group one therapies are recognised as having their own diagnostic approach and treatment methods. 

People with long-term chronic illness are most likely to use Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

A special preparation process called potentisation refines the medicines to remove any toxic effects.
